SGU Blockchain Week – Shaping the Future of Web3

Pelita Bangsa Academy is proud to partner up with Swiss German University and BlockDevId for SGU Blockchain Week, a landmark five-day series that brought together students, industry leaders, and Indonesia’s most innovative Web3 projects. Supported by INDODAX – Indonesia Digital Asset Exchange, this was the first-ever blockchain event hosted in Tangerang, and it set a new standard for hands-on learning and community building in the region.
4 Days of Immersive Blockchain Training
From 8 – 11 July 2024, SGU Information Technology students dived deep into the foundations of blockchain technology under the guidance of Pelita Bangsa Academy’s expert instructors and covers these topics:
- Blockchain Fundamentals & Cryptography
- Ethereum & the EVM
- Solidity Smart Contract Development
- Decentralized App (dApp) Development
Web3 Networking Day: Bridging Innovations in DeFi
On July 12, the week culminated in Web3 Networking Day, themed “Shaping the Future of Web3 – Bridging Innovations in Decentralized Finance for Indonesia.” Held in SGU’s Prominence Tower auditorium, the event welcomed more than 100 attendees, and includes:
- Keynote by Tirta Karma Senjaya, Head of Commodity Futures Oversight (BAPPEBTI RI)
- Talk Show moderated by Yevonnael Andrew (Co-Founder of Pelita Bangsa Academy and SGU Master IT alumnus)
- Belva Driantama (VP Stakeholder Relations, Indodax)
- Dennis (CMO, Tennet Depository Indonesia)
- Yunepto (Blockchain Practitioner)
- Wildan Ramadhan (CEO, Nusa Finance)
Panelists explored how DeFi is revolutionizing financial inclusion, transparency, and innovation across Indonesia’s digital economy. Between sessions, participants connected one-on-one with leading Web3 startups, took part in a lively blockchain quiz, and forged new partnerships—all against the backdrop of SGU’s first blockchain-focused conference in Tangerang.
Students worked in small teams to complete daily tasks, including a networking task during the Networking Day interviewing each other and local Web3 professionals about their roles, career paths, company missions, and even fun facts — an exercise designed to hone both their technical acumen and soft skills for the industry. During these sessions, many Pelita Bangsa Academy alumni and ongoing Blockchain Developer Bootcamp students also meet with one another there and share real-world insights.
A Shared Vision for Indonesia’s Web3 Talent
Since our founding in 2023 by Yevonnael Andrew, Jason Yapri and Peter Mulyadi, Pelita Bangsa Academy has been dedicated to empowering Indonesian tech talent in emerging technologies. SGU Blockchain Week demonstrated the impact of hands-on education, community engagement, and industry collaboration. We thank Swiss German University, INDODAX, and all our speakers, mentors, and students for making this event a resounding success.
